YACK & YARN: KNITTING AN UPTOWN SCARF
INSTRUCTED BY MELISSA WOODS
PART 1: Monday, September 29 from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Youth Room.
Will begin to knit the Uptown Scarf. Will learn how to cast on and cast off.
PART 2: Tuesday, September 30 from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Community Room.
Finish knitting the Uptown Scarf. Will learn to apply fringe.
Materials participants need to bring:
1 Skein worsted weight yarn
2 Skeins of super bulky yarn (approx. 45 yards each)
One set of straight US 35 needles
One straight US size 8 needle [available online only]
One crochet hook size S [available online only]
SOAP MAKING 101 INSTRUCTED BY BECKY RIPPELMEYER
Sunday, December 7 from 2:30-4:30 pm in the Community Room.
Learn the basics of soap making by professional soap maker Becky Ripplemeyer, whose Heirloom Soapworks can be found in her shop in Lebanon, IL. With a maximum of 6 students per class, there is plenty of individual instruction. Each student comes away with both knowledge AND experience from this 100% hands on class. Participants get to choose between the following essential oils: Lavender, Peppermint, Sweet Orange, & Lemon Grass. Participants get to take home two big bars of soap that they created from scratch! You’ll have to decide whether to keep them or to give them as holiday gifts. The workshop lasts approx. 2 hours, and includes all supplies. Participation is limited to 6, so you will be notified if you have been placed on the Waiting List.
YACK & YARN: TATTING BASICS INSTRUCTED BY SANDEE KANE
Tuesday, December 30 from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Community Room.
Learn the basics of tatting, including the “flip” of the knot. Tatting shuttles, white thread, and red thread will be provided. Participation is limited to 6, so you will want to sign up soon.
