Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library meet the second Wednesday of each month
from 6:30 – 7:30 pm in the Community Room. The Friends are a group of volunteers who share a common belief that the library is important to the intellectual and cultural growth of the community. The members of this non-profit organization work to increase public awareness of all library services and assist in bringing funds to the library for special needs. Membership forms are available at the Help Desk. Join us, there’s always room for you!
Friends of the Library Scholarship
Volunteers of any age who are residents of Glen Carbon and are currently graduating from high school, have been accepted to a college or trade school, and who have completed 25 or more hours of community service with the Junior Friends of the Library (or library if an adult) will be eligible for a chance to receive a $500.00 scholarship from the Friends of the Library.
Junior Friends of the Library
The Jr. Friends of the Library meet the first Thursday of each month @ 6:30pm and consist of young adult volunteers (ages 12-18) who meet at the Library to perform community outreach projects. JFOL members organize fund raising activities. The proceeds from the fund raisers are donated to the Library and other charitable organizations that the JFOLs believe are helping to make a difference in our community. They also provide a safe environment within the Library young adults can meet and socialize. Membership forms are available in the Youth Services area.
