CloudLibrary – The 3M CloudLibrary provides access to thousands of free eBook and downloadable audiobook titles.  When signing up, select Illinois Heartland Library System as your home library.  You can read on your computer or download the app and listen on your favorite device.

Libby – Libby provides access to thousands of free eBook and downloadable audiobook titles.  Libby is available on your computer or you can download the Libby app.  On Libby, you will need to use Digital Library of Illinois as your home library, or search for Glen Carbon.

Hoopla – Browse through thousands of eBooks, eAudiobooks, comics, movies, music and more on Hoopla. This content can be used on any smart device or computer. You can also use it with Chromecast and Roku devices to watch on a TV.  You can check out up to 3 items each month. To get the most out of your passes, check out the BingePasses to check out collections of videos, music, ebooks, and more using a single pass.

Kanopy – Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, and world cinema with collections from Kino Lorber, Music Box Films, Samuel Goldwyn, The Orchard, The Great Courses, PBS and thousands of independent filmmakers. This content can be used on any smart device or computer. You can also use it with Chromecast and Roku devices to watch on a TV. You get 15 tickets each month.

Tumblebooks – Tumblebooks is a great resource for young readers, with a curated collection of over 1100 titles that include interactive picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, audiobooks, and more. Recommended for grades K-6.

Teen Book Cloud – TeenBookCloud offers the next level of content for students in 7-12 grade, offering classics, graphic novels, audiobooks, and more.

Illinois State Genealogical Society (ISGS) – A website created to enhance your passion for genealogy. It not only features links to ISGS projects and quarterlies, but also links you to other records and resources throughout Illinois including those individual genealogical home pages that have an Illinois connection!

Statistical Abstract of the United StatesThe Statistical Abstract of the United States, published since 1878, is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.

Government

Core Documents of U. S. Democracy – Contains the cornerstone documents of the U. S. political system (The Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the commentary/auxiliary materials like the Federalist Papers.) Also links to the Library of Congress’s excellent web source for page image of early American sources.

Voter Registration – Register to vote in Illinois up to 30 days before an election.  You will need a valid form of identification, such as a driver’s license or state I.D. card to register.

Gale Legal Forms – Gale Legal Forms is an online database that provides a wide selection of state-specific (and multi-state) legal forms across the most popular legal areas. Includes real estate contracts, wills, power of attorney, pre-marital agreements, adoption forms, landlord-tenant, incorporation, tax forms, law digest, and many others. Also included is a comprehensive attorney state directory and a dictionary of legal definitions explained in laymen’s language.

Illinois Legal Aid: Madison County – This site is a place to help you learn how to represent yourself in court in simpler legal matters when you cannot find an attorney to represent you, get free legal information about Illinois law, and find out about free or low-cost legal services in your area.

Illinois Court Help – Going to court can be stressful, especially if you don’t have a lawyer. Illinois Court Help makes the court process less confusing – whether you’re facing eviction, getting a divorce, dealing with a DUI, or something else.  These court guides provide legal information about the court system, they don’t give legal advice.

Literature

Literary Reference SourceFull-text literary database covering all genres and time periods. It includes thousands of synopses, critical essays, book reviews, literary journals, and author biographies, plus full-text classic novels, short stories, and poems.  This database is provided by the Illinois State Library.

Edwardsville Community Unit School District 7 The Edwardsville District 7 serves the communities of Glen Carbon, Edwardsville, Hamel, Worden, Midway, Moro, Dorsey, and Prairietown, Illinois.

Glen-Ed Pantry – The Glen Ed Pantry provides regular, emergency and referral services to people whose household income falls below the Illinois Department of Human Services eligibility guidelines. Benefits Check Up – BenefitsCheckUp is free service of the National Council on Aging (NCOA), a nonprofit service and advocacy organization in Washington, DC. Many adults over 55 need help paying for prescription drugs, health care, utilities, and other basic needs. There are over 2,000 federal, state and private benefits programs available to help.

Eldercare Locator – The Eldercare Locator, a public service of the Administration on Aging, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is a nationwide service that connects older Americans and their caregivers with information on senior services.

Meals on Wheels – Meals on Wheels provide well over one million meals to seniors who need them each day. Some programs serve meals at congregate locations like senior centers, some programs deliver meals directly to the homes of seniors whose mobility is limited, and many programs provide both services.
